EA Titles
Of course, EA had to get in on things, and they got their own section to show off how they are trying hard. One of the biggest touted things was Procedural Awareness, showing how an NBA player in the PS3 world could react and adapt to different happenings in the game world, whereas a PS2 character was more like a puppet. As well, they demonstrated advanced footwork, responsiveness, and other things that actually were quite cool- I was rather impressed. But, what about the titles?
NBA Live 07 was shown first, which was damn impressive, even for a sports game. Jason McGrady was quick, fast, and his body was sleek, Dwayne Wade (his opponent) quick and giving him a definite challenge. Even though I in no way enjoy sports games, I must admit- I wanted my hands on the controller as I watched some basketball on the big screen.
Then, it was time for more tech demos. Generating Tiger Woods on screen, complete with Nike apparel, Tiger was able to show a full range of emotions and expressions, even smirking, grinning, making little comments about his shots (That's what I'm talking about!) and other things never before seen in sports games.
But, then, we got to see some real titles that we'll be playing by E3 in the future:
Need for Speed: Carbon
Army of Two
Medal of Honor: Airborne
Madden NFL 07
NBA Live 07
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07
Final Fantasy XII
Remember how I said they were holding back on us? They were. Final Fantasy 13 was first announced on the Playstation 3, running in full glorious HD. Featuring a train being attacked as a young woman (See our screenshots in the news section) tore up soldiers inside, the engine for Final Fantasy XII looks better than ever, all battle methods showing true speed and agility, and the speed in which all actions took place were phenomenal. While nothing was truly divulged about the plot of the game, or even what the hell would be going on, we can honestly *ssume that SquareEnix will surprise us with the latest title- or at least make a really pretty game.
