The Sony PS3 Conference Unveiled

Eight Days

Featuring a psuedo-Grand Theft Auto atmosphere mixing with what appears to be a lot like the “Getaway” games, this title features a slick look that appears to be set in Arizona. One of the coolest features, however, was the fact that the game was being played, thus evidenced by the GUI at the bottom of the screen- and I was convinced it was a movie. This kind of quality even made Gran Turismo HD look a little silly, and we can expect this game, if it looks THIS good, to redefine the way we look at the games we play.

”Naughty Dog”

Toting the “Naughty Dog” logo we are all familiar with, one of the titles that hit most of us as a surprise was somewhat not named (Though I'll call it “Naughty Dog”) , which features a unique Jungle atmosphere mixed with some urban/tomb environments- It actually somewhat reminded me of a mix of Tomb Raider and Far Cry, and on the Playstation 3 hardware, looked awesome.

Resistance: Fall of Man

Featuring an alternate universe where World War 2 was lost, Resistance: Fall of Man is about an unknown entity trying to wipe out the human race. Shown a few months ago at GDC, this is one of the titles commonly cited as a good example of the PS3 hardware. With absolutely beautiful graphics and spot-on sound, not to mention intense action and some of the coolest smoke effects I've ever seen, Resistance is absolutely beautiful, without any doubt. And the coolest thing of all- the thing that just made it phenomenal- was the simple fact that the entire game was shown actually being played. Every bit of it. While I originally shrugged it off as a bad Sci-Fi shooter, I can say that Resistance is definitely a title to keep tabs on as it develops, if not because it's just freaking beautiful.








But, that's all good and cool, but what I wanted to see would be third party. Honestly, I don't think SCE is that great- but when I saw the third party titles, I was sold. Some titles shown on the show floor:
