Capcom VS SNK 2: Mark Of The Millenium 2001(GCN) (Unknown) (Fighter) |

An excellent crossover... I approve.
Being the avid SNK and Capcom lover that I am, I went to get Capcom VS SNK at the game stores. I definitely loved it, but it felt like it was missing something. It was more like a "King Of Fighters VS Street Fighter" game.
Then I got Capcom VS SNK 2. CvS2 is an excellent improvement from CvS. It contains different features, extra modes to unlock and a big amount of characters. The gameplay is well-improved. More tactical moves have been introduced, along with a "Groove" system. This "Groove" system allowed you to choose from six different fighting styles from Capcom and SNK. The Capcom grooves are "C, A, and P(CAPcom) and the SNK grooves are S, N and K(SNK of course!). The C groove uses a three-bar energy style, similar to Street Fighter Alpha when certain buttons use a certain amount of power, the A groove contains 2 and the ability to create 'custom combos', and the P groove contains one bar, which when fully charged unleashes a Level 3 special move. The S groove includes one chargable power meter, the N groove includes a three-bar style, which has MAX activation that can be triggered with HP+HK, and the K groove uses the Rage Meter style seen in Samurai Showdown; when the bar hits full, your character will turn red and will be able to use Level 3 special moves. There is a ratio mode available for those who want a challenge. You can select one character with a 4 ratio, Two characters with either a 2, 2 ratio or a 1, 3 ratio, or three characters with a 1, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, or 2, 1, 1 ratio. All the boss characters fight at one character, 4 ratio, and it's probably best not to use three characters against them... they'll pwn you with a baseball bat. Trust me. In the XBOX version of Capcom VS SNK 2, there is an online mode available, which increases the replay value. I kinda wish there was online for PS2 as well though... *shrug* There is a SLEW of characters in this game available for selection. There are over 48 characters to select! That's probably the biggest character roster in any SNK/Capcom game ever. The graphics are incredibly good to look at. The Capcom-ified characters are awesome to look at. Especially Mai... *drool* Well anyway. The special effects are improved as well, and the game has a nice pace to it. Some Capcom characters were also completely re-drawn with a new look(Ryu, Ken, Akuma), and every character blends in with each other.(Except Morrigan... wtf?) This is definitely a well-made game. It's nothing that mind-blowing, but it's still pretty darn sweet. Check it out if you can find it, it's kinda rare in some places. 4 out of 5.
