This game was released on Naomi hardware in the arcade. It was later released for the Sega Dreamcast (Japan only), PlayStation 2, Nintendo GameCube, and Xbox (as Capcom vs. SNK 2 EO).
Capcom vs. SNK 2 combines the best of Capcom and SNK fighting games. Six "grooves" (or fighting styles) are available in addition to a large cast of Capcom and SNK characters. The three Capcom grooves are C, A, and P and are derivatives of fighting styles from Street Fighter Alpha 3 and the Street Fighter III series. The three SNK grooves are S, N, and K and are derived from Garou: Mark of the Wolves, the Samurai Shodown and King of Fighters series. It featured 15 new characters and 6 different "grooves" or Super bars, each one with unique features taken from previous fighting games of both companies gives this game high replay value.
