During intermission I was talking to my friend, got A LOT of compliments on my 8 Bit Theater shirt (by the end of that night I could tell just about everyone knew what Sword Chucks was). When I went to the bathroom, they were playing one of the songs that was going to be played in the concert in the first half of the second part.
So I go back to my seat, wait a couple minutes, and the Director tells us the next pieces in the concert. Aeris?s Theme from Final Fantasy 7, You?re Not Alone from Final Fantasy 9, and Ronfaure from Final Fantasy 11. First off Aeris?s Theme. Everyone shed some emotion toward that song. On the big projector screens they showed the scene after she was stabbed by Sephiroth and the white materia falling into the water. Next was You?re Not Alone. To tell you the truth I forgot this song in the game. So I can?t really say much except it was good. Now onto Ronfaure. It might be hard to hear one song from an MMORPG but that was the place where I stopped playing Final Fantasy 11 last. It sounded great with full symphony comparing to the version on the game.
So finally the Director tells us the last three songs in the evening. Final Fantasy 1-3 Medley, Cloud Smiles from final Fantasy 7: Advent Children, and Final Fantasy. He says his thanks for coming, I hope you had a great time, blah blah blah. Then after that crap the music starts to play.
The Final Fantasy 1-3 Medley was probably one of the best songs in the concert. Containing the Overworld theme and Matoyas cave from Final Fantasy 1, some song in Final fantasy 3, and lastly the Chocobo theme and the Rebels Army from Final Fantasy 2. Now if you ever played the NES or remakes of these games (minus FF3) then you will be over joyed by listening to this. When they started playing the Chocobo theme, everyone started cheering. It?s nice to do, but you lose 5 seconds of the song. Next was Cloud Smiles. We all know the movie isn?t out yet, and this was probably the only time you?ll get to hear it until then. The whole song had Nobuo?s touch in the music. Meaning you would recognize it immediately he wrote it. Last but not least was Final Fantasy. Just about every game in the Final fantasy series (including Kingdom Hearts) contained this song. It had the rich medley, great bass, and everything else you would want in the song.
The concert was over, the symphony bowed, everyone cheering like crazy, and the director walks off stage. He comes back on and someone in the audience yells ?Play One Winged Angel!? So of course EVERYONE started cheering to hear that song. So what do they do? They started playing it. Everyone was probably pissing in their pants listening to this. This was the best song in the whole concert. It was loud, exciting, and people cheered like there was no tomorrow. So the director leaves the stage for good. We all clap, cheer, and yelled. So the unthinkable happens. The director comes BACK onto stage, and plays One Winged Angle AGAIN! Playing the Encore twice!
If you weren?t able to go to any of the Dear Friends concerts, then that sucks for you. That?s all I have to say.
