  • Dear Friends: Music from Final Fantasy

    by Jamison, 2005-07-06

Final Fantasy, a game that has brought gamers together for years now. We all know the music was a major part of the series. So why not dedicate a whole concert to this great music by Nobuo Uematsu.

First thing that I did was try to fill up a couple last tickets. We eventually asked my brothers friend and one of my friends. So halfway there to the Bass Hall where it was going to be played, I noticed how we were DOWN a ticket. For some reason they thought, ?why not make receipts look like tickets so people will shove to us more money for another ticket?? So we get there and go up to the counter down some hall if they had ANY tickets left. They said yes and guess where it was? Front row! Then you will probably realize I left my friends and family that are all the way on top balcony to go sit at the front row.

So now back to the actual concert. The director comes on the stage, and right afterwards the symphony plays Liberi Fatali from Final fantasy 8. For the first time in my life to listen to something as beautiful as this, made me go insane on the inside.

After that was song was done. The director said the thanks for coming blah blah blah. Next he stated that Nobuo couldn?t make it, but showed a message from him on the big ass projectors. Finally announced the next three songs. To Zanarkand from Final Fantasy 10, Terra?s Theme from Final Fantasy 6, and the Theme of Love from Final Fantasy 4.

Listening To Zanarkand in full symphony instead of just a piano kicked ass. Problem with Terra?s Theme and me was that I never played Final Fantasy 6. The song was great, but I had no emotion towards it. With the Theme of Love, it brought back some memories of how much it was to make Cecil become a weak ass Paladin, and how much love interests was in this game.

Later they announced the last three songs before intermission. It was Dear Friends from Final Fantasy 5 which this concert was named after, Vamo? alla Flamenco (probably one of the best d*** songs on Final Fantasy 9), and lastly Love Grows from Final fantasy 8.

Comparing Dear Friends from the way it sounds in the game, to the full symphony, I couldn?t even tell. Sure there were SOME parts, but mostly it was a completely new piece. Yet the song did prove itself in the end. Next with Vamo? alla Flamenco. I LOVED THIS SONG! It is one of the songs from the concert I yet can?t get out of my head. It reminded me of the dual where this song took place, how Kuja was obviously gay, and how cool Vivi was. Then Love Grows, yet another song I can?t shed emotion towards for I never really played Final Fantasy 8 that far.
