Final: Overall Rankings and Notes
FINAL FANTASY XI -> D-
WORLD OF WARCRAFT -> B+
EVERQUEST 2 -> B
So, in the long run, we at Gametrash (Or at least those of us working on this project) have generally found that, of the three games, World of Warcraft tends to be the best bang for your buck. With a very easy to use interface as well as a reasonably deep storyline, the game excels virtually everywhere. While there are some minor issues with it (being remarkably easy to level up, as well as the insane amount of people on it now), the game still is worth any money you put into it, being essentially the cheapest of the three options.
However, Everquest 2 is not to be ignored. With an insanely deep gameplay, one can expect that, in about 5 years when computers are actually able to handle these kinds of graphics and take up the slack from their under managed servers, this game will absolutely rock. Now, the game is playable, but still has so many issues and irritating features that gamers best stick to the original and wait for Sony Online to figure out a way to make it less problematic.
And, of course, that leaves Final Fantasy XI in the last spot, the spot that we shun to the side like a bad child. Everything about FFXI is frustrating, irritating, boring, confusing, and generally fraught with problems from head to toe. Almost completely unplayable, Final Fantasy XI is only for those with insane amounts of time and energy to devote to something pointless, and is generally best used only by those who are looking for a masochistic kind of entertainment.
FINAL WORDS
So, there you have it. After about a week of unilateral testing, we have come to a conclusion, and probably have inevitably angered many readers. I have to say it very bluntly: both Final Fantasy XI and Everquest 2 need work in many departments, though we do expect to be whipping out our copies of EQ2 in a few years for some true fun. Right now, however, tit for tat, we had a blast with World of Warcraft, and pretty much nothing else.
Eventually, I intend to continue this overview system to go onto different games- soon, hopefully, to include more Korean and Japanese oriented games such as Lineage 2, Priston Tale, and much more. Also, we hope to get our hands on Tabula Rossa as soon as it comes out for experimentation- but for now, I'm keeping my computer thoroughly engaged with the World of Warcraft.
