    CRT Option:
    ViewSonic P220fb
Viewsonic is the GOD of Monitors, be it LCD or CRT. And, of course, they make a kickass CRT. This 22" monitor has a native of 2048x1536, meaning it can display one HELL of a lot of pixels. Plus, its a CRT, so Joe's gonna have some real fast gaming to play with. And its only about $400. Hot DAMN.
    ImageQuest L90D+
I'm typing this review on this monitor right now, I bought this for my new system that's coming to me soon. I'll write a review on this later, but to give you the specs, its 1280x1024 native, with 8ms response time, making it one of the fastest LCDs on the market. I've played lots of games on this as a test, not a blur or smear yet.

Lets look at Fred. Obviously he's going to be staring at this computer screen one hell of a lot, which evidently means that we need something easy on the eyes. The best way to do this would be to find a screen that isnt blurry or malformed, and looks perfectly like a report or something, which basically BEGS LCD. However, there's a catch: Fred does graphics design, which means he's going to need one hell of a good color range.
    My reccomendation:
    Samsung 910T
The Samsung 910T is a 19", 1280x1024 LCD with a very nice option of DVI. While my above LCD has DVI, we have to remember that Fred's going to be staring at this a while, which is nice with its .294mm pixel pitch and 1000:1 ratio, its going to hold up to hours of looking at boring, boring text. However, this is definately not a gaming monitor, with 25ms reponse time, as opposed to the 8ms above with the L90D+.

Lets now look at Steve. This is a situation in which we have a shitload of expendable cash, and somewhere to put it. Naturally, if Steve watches a lot of movies, he's going to want to watch something with some harumph behind it. A nice, big screen would be a good addition too, being as he's going to be watching the screen a lot.
    My reccomendation:
    Dell UltraSharp 2405FPW
Want to be the envy of your friends? Want to be an entire asshole when it comes to how much of your screen you can see? Then get the 1405FPW from Dell. This thing is a widescreen, 24 inch monolith with a 12ms response time. When it comes to watching DVDs (or DVD ISOs) this thing could be considered the holy grail. Of course, this comes with a price, the lowest one being $1000 even. Talk about pricy for a few inches over 19", which can be bought for around $300.

Instead of going through more monitors picking and choosing, I'll give you a little laundry list of things to look for in a LCD and CRT. After all, give a man a fish, or teach him to fish.
