Half-Life: Redemption

This is a Half-life mod, a single player game by a developer called Maverick. If you have the old CS, which allowed you to access the "custom game" option, chaces are you can find this game. Know well however, nothing works with this mod. No HD pack, nothing. The premise is a cool one, as it tells the tale od Gordon Freeman's employment under the G-man. However, it went so terribly wrong.

On to the game. At the beginning, you must sit through, I'm guessing, 10 minutes of boring introduction. Horrible. Then you walk around the base getting suited up (no problems there) and off you go. There is a Lord of the Flies joke too. The game is teeth gnashingly difficult. Not many other games have made me yell and scream at the screen. The only adequete discription of the difficulty involves four swear words and throwing a hammer. You must fight soldoers with a pistol and shotgun, then the ninja guys. Heath is scarce, and ambushes abound. Remember the baby headcrabs? The transparent, tiny ones? They are everywhere in dark tunnels. For once, I actually had to engage autoaim, and even then, I had trouble killing the little buggers. I am Ok at Half-Life, perhaps a little above avarage, and still I had tons of trouble. The level design is bad, often you wander around not knowing where to go, and every so often, you run into an invisible wall.

That's just the first level. The second is a little better, and its a little funny. You go to a carnival called "Half-Park" and you can fool around with the "Gib a Geek" machines, and ride the ferris wheel. However, bad level design rears it's ugly head again, and you feel like you're searching for a door instead of navigating a carnival.

The Third is a pain, and everything else just is horrible. I managed to beat this monstrosity, but it wasn't rewarding at all. Bad level design, too amny enemies, you name it.

The weapons are the Half-Life weapons, no changes there. My gripes remain, and there are no differences.

There is one multiplayer map, but it's not worth you time. I doubt people even play that.

I'm not sure how many of you can even play this game, but for those of you who can, don't. This game is literally for Hardcores and Idiots alike. Remember, I'm here to play games like this so you don't have to.
