World War II Made...Fun?
Now, I've heard of some people not liking the World War II FPS mainly because, World War II was not a war where:
1. One person did all the work. 2. It wasn't meant to be a 'fun experience' These are two very valid reasons and if you think about it, it's true that all the WWII FPS all want to seem "grusome and scary" but turn out being "sweet and fun" etc etc. Well, Call of Duty does what I mentioned above. It can be a bad thing or a good thing, depending on the person who's looking at it. A WWII Vet will want to proceed to stab and burn Activision's face off, while all the little kids will want to give them several flavors of chocolate. In Call of Duty, throughout the story mode, you first play as American, then later to British and even to Russian where I BELIEVE you fight the Stalingrad battle. So yea, there's a big transition as opposed to many other WWII FPS where you are American, cause America has to stand proud! ![]() The weapon choice is pretty good, from your standard Thompson to a Kar98 and an MP40 to an MP44. Each weapon too has a different weight, so an MP44 makes you move considerably slower than when you're holding a thompson. It's a neat little feature, though in multiplayer it kills you. The music is pretty good, though in the time playing it you don't realize it's there, and if it weren't there, the game experience wouldn't change at all. It's obviously been well orchestrated, but in the levels it's just really not needed so much. The SFX make the most noise in each level, as it is war they put every single SFX that has to do with wars. Mortars flying in and then blowing up, machine guns on tanks, MG42s, each sound goes to it's own thing. In multiplayer mode, that's a good thing for you cause if your American and hear the MP40 shooting, you know there are possibly German's nearby, and vice versa for the Germans too. The graphics are good. They aren't incredible, and that's a good thing because that would most likely slow down the game, but they do good to the game. ![]() Along with the actual weapon use, of course you get the standard Colt or Luger and some grenades. However, with each gun you can smack the enemy with the gun, and the MP40 is light so you should probably do it with that as opposed to the Thompson. As well with each gun you can aim better by right clicking, which is usually used only for the guns with scopes to snipe, you can do it with every single gun and although you move slower, the accuracy increase is definetely worth it. Overall this game gets 1 mushroom. It's a great game and the multiplayer isn't so bad either. If you see it, buy it, maybe I'll see you on multiplayer. Most likely not, war is too much fun.
