When flash games become real games Alien Hominid is a pretty balance side scrolling shooter. Sure it’s not a Metal Slug, but it’s unique in its own way. It starts out as the alien hominid guy cruises in his ship. Then the government gets this signal, and blows his ship up. So the alien guy crashes onto earth, and embarks on a quest to gather up his ship, and escape. Then there’s some fat kids that give you power ups and help you out on the way. The game play is pretty basic, but addictive. Also I might add is this game is pretty hard. I could not beat this game with out once getting a “Continue?” The bosses are the hardest part in this game, its like impossible to defeat some of these guys without dying. One example is this walking robot with a giant eye near the beginning of the game. You have to get under him just to shoot him, which lasts two seconds before he kills you. This game only lasts about three different environments before you beat it. So you can expect about five or more hours. Having a friend in co-op mode might make it a little better, but it really helps you on your health. You just make him do all the killing yourself parts so you can progress. Also there are some mini games you can unlock. My personal favorites were the Soviet Union launcher game and the PDA game. On the PDA one, you basically get from point A to point B without dying, but there is over two hundred levels. The PDA game actually lasts longer than the actual game.  The graphics weren’t that great, but I have to give him a hand to it anyway. Every graphic in this game was hand drawn, every animation, basically the whole game, and when I mean hand drawn, I mean with a tablet and spending hours to make a couple graphics. The backgrounds are pretty neat looking also. The music is pretty simple, considering it’s a simple game. Having no music doesn’t change the overall game experience at all to me. Some of the sound effects were a little crappy, but the rest were pretty good (zap)  In the end of the day, this is a pretty good game. If you have been looking for a good side scrolling shooter, then this is a good one to try. There’s some rental stores that don’t carry this game, so the only way you will be able to play it is by buying it, or getting your friend to buy it. Also if you didn’t know, this game was actually a flash game on newgrounds.com. Just a warning, the flash game is totally different from the actual game.
