Castle Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory

Castle Wolfenstein, the actual ones that costed money, were usually about Hitler, Nazis, and sometimes the occasional Zomebie Nazi or Super Nazi (Of COURSE there were zombie nazis in World War II.) Basically you are [insert troop's name here] and you go around killing Nazis.

This game, Enemy Territory, can be easily downloaded at www.castlewolfenstein.com for free, the only trouble is finding a good mirror to download it from. However once you get it, it's amazing how they would give something this good for free. Basically, the choices that you hold are these:
-Being Allied/Axis
-Being an Engineer/Field Ops (Ammo and Airstrikes)/Medic (Medic Packs and Syringes to "revive" people/Covert Ops (Self Explanatory)/and a soldier (150 pounds of Panzerfaust goodness.)

Then you can choose from a VAST array of weapons, and I mean a LOT of weapons. Including but not limited to:

MP40/Thompson/FG42/M1 Garand/Luger 9mm/Akimbo .45 ACPs and much much more!



Basically you get on a server, and duke it out between Allies and Nazis (With an objective). Different maps hold different objectives for different teams. Such as blowing up a Fuel Dump or getting ammo to a railgun. (As in a gun on a train rail)

The graphics are pretty good. They aren't wow-amazing-in-your-face graphics (as Enemy Territory, I believe, is moderately old), but for this kind of gameplay, the in-your-face graphics would slow you down, as there is constant motion and explosions.

The sound is pretty good. Guns sound like guns, Explosions sound like Explosions. Though what I don't like is the whole "radio" thing going on. Basically you can Press V and choose a saying like "Heal me!" and "I need ammo" This is good if you don't want to type it "give me ammo please", but it's also bad because there is always that ONE guy who decides he's the greatest jokester of all time, and he CONSTANTLY spams the radio going "MEDIC MEDIC MEDIC MEDIC MEDIC MEDIC MEDIC" until you WISH you could have a real war with the nerd on the other end.



The controls are the basic ASDW and C is for crouch, left click to shoot. Very basic stuff. Basic is good however, because Basic is easy to control, and this game requires control. As this is online, it is easily very possible to fight against the occasional 56K person, or the T1 college guy who owns everyone.

I'd recommend this game, to the appropiate age group of course (this game contains blood, especially when you knife people), to anyone willing to let their computer hold the Wolfenstein Folder and so on. It's a good game, though since AGAIN it is online, there are of course other PEOPLE. Other PEOPLE means the classic 'go eat yourself' attitude that so many hold.

1 Mushroom to this game, It's enjoyable to play, but since it's so enjoyable there are people. People just make me wanna Exit the game faster than if I was actually losing.
