  • Never Ending Boss Fights

  • Warning Forever is made by a independent Japanese studio called Hikware. A free download which can be downloaded at download.com. Now there are millions of free downloadable games on the internet, but this is one of those that I can say are actually “really great.” Grabbing the top-down 1942 style shooting game, with a new concept and design.

The point of this game is to constantly go form a boss battle to a boss battle. You are given a time limit, which can be increased when you complete a boss, until it stops and you are fighting with a timer always going down. A tricky part is whenever you die, you lose more time. So the game gets harder and harder over time. Seems like a pretty lame idea, but there is a great feature that makes this very unique, which I will get to later.

Once you start the game the controls were a little weird, so I instantly changed the fire and change weapon to A and D. This is something you might want to do, and I am telling you this because this is makes the controls a little easier. Also the fact they never tell you the controls, and it is a pain in the ass to press random buttons.

You destroy the boss ship by shooting it, but you change your direction by pressing another button to bring up this targeting range. If you stop shooting and move the guy around, the direction of your gun will change, and get wider or skinnier depending if you move in or out of the target’s direction. This may seem a little confusing (confusing to
type how it works and what it is called), but it’ll make sense when you play it.

Graphics are the kind of style where it is like asteriods 2D polygonesque graphics, except with detailed explosions, gunfire, and colored filled graphics. Remembering the fact the game is free and pretty simple, the graphics fit the game. If it was a little better, then it could be a little better, but why need graphics when the gameplay is extremely addicting? Well actually graphics are a major point, but these simple graphics are alright. Now I wouldn’t PAY for a game like this nowadays though.

The sound is pretty boring. You get sounds that a weapon makes, a little beep to tell you you changed an option at the title screen, and a alarm. This gets a little old and annoying, so you might want to put on some background music and lower the sound level for sound effects, unless you like to hear constant gunfire and explosions.

Now here is a very unique feature in the game. Depending on where you destroy, what you destroy on the boss ship, the next level will have weapons and armor added to that section. So let’s say you constantly attack the side of the ship. Eventually there will be so many bullets, armor, lasers, etc. in the way, you will not be able to be there without instantly dyng. This will force to find a new strategy to fight the boss. Also the boss fights will never end until all of your time is out, so you can have a boss ship that is the size of the entire screen, hence the title Warning Forever.

If you are bored on a rainy day with nothing going on, you might want to download this game and try it out. Hell it is free, so you won’t lose anything except time. 4 out of 5.
