  • We all remember the first game of this series right? Katamari Damacy, created by Namco, was a very popular game, even if it was a little on the weird side, in which you basically rolled the earth's contents into A Giant Ball

    If you remember the plot to the first game, it went much like this. The King of All the Cosmos was cruisin around Earth when he destroyed all the stars. You, as the Prince of All the Cosmos, had to roll things into a ball and create stars. In the game you traveled around Japan and eventually rolled up the biggest ball ever, later to be named the moon.

    Now in this second game, you seem to have hit a little snag.
    There are only stars around the Earth, and the rest of the Cosmos still needs stars. The beginning of this game tells us how great Katamari Damacy was, but how they messed up and now in this game you had to fix it.

    Eventually, when you get later into the game, a dog (yes, a dog) asks you if you could, quite possibly, roll up the sun for him. Yes, you do try and roll up the sun with the stars you've currently created. However, you fail and are forced to make more stars. You probably do roll up the sun in the end, probably causing Earth to have an early apocalypse.



    In this game you play as the Prince of All Cosmos, but there is an added Multiplayer options in which you can play as the Prince's Cousins. During the game, you find several of the Prince's cousins down on Earth, and this unlocks new characters which can be used.

    The first one had Multiplayer too right, so what exactly am I talking about here? I'm talking about Multiplayer Co-Op. This requires:
    - A friend
    - A sound proof room
    - If you have no sound proof room, psychic abilities.


    Why do you need a sound proof room or psychic abilities you ask?
    The controllers in the game require that to move left you tilt BOTH analog sticks to the left. In the Multiplayer Co-Op Mode, to move left BOTH players have to move their analog sticks to the left. That's right you have to either yell really loud 'WE'RE GOING LEFT COME ON' or have psychic abilities to know that you want that UltraMan on the left side of the screen.



    Apart from the Multiplayer being very hard, the game itself is basically Katamari Damacy, but with a different title. Yes, it's a sequel but in a sequel you expect something other than an almost impossible to use Co-Op Mode. Don't get me wrong, the Co-Op mode would be really fun, but maybe for one level. Eventually you'd get mad at your partner for not getting the Giant Soup Crab cause he opted for the Afro Guitarist.

    The only difference is that in one type of level the Katamari (The Giant ball you are rolling) is on fire and you need to continuously roll things up.

    Apart from its repetitive nature to the first one, and the potentially frustrating Co-Op Mode, the game is still really really fun. Quite frankly, if they were to make a 3rd sequel to this game, I'd still buy it.


    However, I must warn you. If you get annoyed by weird and ridiculous stuff and make fun of games if they look really childish, this game is definetely not for you. We Love Katamari AND Katamari Damacy are both very weird and childish looking games.

    I give this game 4 stars. This game lost 1 star for its repetitiveness and it's Multiplayer. This game still retains a 4 star score however for being generally fun and entertaining.
