  • First off this game is about attorneys and anything dealing with investigating crimes and stuff, also it is a remake of a Japan only GBA game. So if you hate that kind of stuff, this isn’t for you. Otherwise this is a kick ass game.

The story is about a brand new defense attorney, Phoenix Wright, starting his career. His first case so happens is to defend his best friend, because he is accused of murder. So he then takes the case, and if you are at least 30 points above from being mentally retarded, win the case. After that weirder cases get shoved at you.

The graphics in this game are in the anime looking style. Meaning 2D graphics and not much animation. Backgrounds in all the areas you go are heavily detailed. The characters also look pretty detailed. Among these characters are mostly weird looking people. From the supposely good girl who looks satanic when she’s mad, to the extremely evil, old lawyer you see late in the game. Then you also get the girls with big b***s, because if there weren’t any, then it wouldn’t be japanese.

Gameplay is pretty solid. When in the courtroom, it goes through a find the contradiction and prove the persons statement false, which is actually fun. When you are investigating a crime, it goes into an adventure game style, where you look for, clues, puzzles, and just the weirdest conversations. The stylus was added onto the game, but doesn’t have a big purpose until the very last case. You can play the whole game without the stylust if you want to, but sometimes it’s better with the stylus. Now this seems like it could get repetitive, but because of the people, cases, crap people do, it makes it very interesting.

The music is pretty catchy in the game. Just about all of the music is about maybe a minute loop. Some even 10 seconds. Now it is not as catchy like something from the old school mario games, but catchy non of the less. You just won’t whistle or hum it to yourself in public. There are very few sound effects. They range from a gunshot to “objection!” Probably the ebst sound effect in the game is the “objection!” yelled by several different people.

In the end it is a pretty solid game. Not perfect, but pretty great. Also as a added bonus, you can yell into the mic to make the game say “objection,” but I couldn’t get it to work. If you have a DS game, and like adventure games, this is a must have. Also I would give this a 4.5 if I could, but with the restraints in the site, I’m just going to round it up.
