Shadow of the Colossus(PS2) (T) (Adventure) |
|||
A new game from the developers of Ico![]() Shadow of the Colossus is one of the few games that, for me, really draws me into the game. Great music, graphics, and story line. It might be short, but it has enough good qualities to make you replay it. The story is about a guy whos one love was sacrificed for having a “Cursed Future” or something dealing with being cursed. Anyway you get a rumor about a castle in a far away land that can bring back the dead. So you go there, and are required to destroy these 16 colossus’s. So now you start on your journey, with your bow, sword, and horse. The controls in this game are a little different style than most games, but easy to learn. Fighting and climbing up a colossus feels realistic. If controlling a person can fell realistic. Some problems I had though was controlling the horse. For it to move, you have to keep pressing X. Also getting on your horse is a pain in the ass. You have to jump right next to it, and when in the middle of a battle it can severely screw your ass. You attempt to get on, but instead just jump, and then you get whacked by a colossi. Still everything else is great. ![]() The graphics are outstanding. The character models might not look that great to these current standards, but the evenviroments and colossi look awsome. Sometimes you just rather explore this massive world instead of going to a colossus. Water effects amazed the hell out of me. When swimming, you can look underwater and it actually looks like you’re underwater. Not like being above water, but with a blue shade and move slow. Some small features like birds flying and lizards crawling away from you add to the realism of the world you currently are located. The colossi look very amazing. Ranging from a giant soldier with a sword, to an underwater electric eel. The fur on these creatures look pretty realistic, like the beard on the sixth colossi. The black blood stuff that come out of a colossi when you stab it is pretty cool too. Sound in this game is also outstanding. The music has the kind of chapple music along with some fast pace action music when fighting. It gets you very involved in the game, somewhat like the music from the Final Fantasy series. Sound effects and voices are really great. The horse really sounds like a horse. Not like a cheap old hobo guy sounding like one because he is being paid a bottle of whisky. The sound effects sound like they would in real life. From walking on concrete to swimming through water. It all sounds natural. This makes the entire game more enjoyable a higher degree than most games sounds would. ![]() In the end this is an outstanding PS2 game. It can be beaten within a 8-10 hour gameplay, but then there are several more modes to play, giving new items and crap. I suggest buying this game just for the fact it is really awsome, and another great title to add too your game collection. If you are a poor bastard and can only rent, then rent this.
