  • Remake of the classic Metroid

  • Metroid Zero Mission is a remake of the classic Metroid game. With graphic, music, and enemy updates. Also new features and areas were added into the game. Making it more interesting.

The graphics in the game are like the SNES Metroid game and the other GBA metorid game. It is pretty decent for a GBA title. With a lot of details and little things people could miss without looking closely. Sometimes you can experience tiny amounts of lag but not often. Usually when you’re shooting a bunch going super fast while destroying aliens and having laser beams flying past you. This will happen to you luckily. Making it a cool sight. Also the enemies have gotten upgrades. Now Mother Brain looks awesome, but with a bigger jar. She has finally been given a bigger jar for all these d*** years of being ignored.

The game play is the same like all the other 2D metroid games. You go around, shoot aliens, gain health, find upgrades, etc. A noticeable thing they added to the mix of upgrades is the ability to grab onto ledges. Allowing for you getting onto ledges you wouldn’t be able to get to before. Later you will get the high jump and the ability to grab ledges becomes useless. Some of the upgrades you get are a freeze beam, and the super bomb. The super bomb isn’t available until the final level so it isn’t that big of a deal.

The music in this game is pretty outstanding. The difference from the old 8-Bit format of music to the 32-bit format is noticeable. Some of the music will be slower paced and have a nice mood to it, and others will be faced pace with an action atmosphere. The old metroid theme will get a tune up, along with another version of the song later in the game. Sound effects are really good in the game too. Sound effects from the sound of jumping to Ridley’s dying scream had a lot of work put into them. Making them really cool.

One noticeable new feature is an added level after you defeat Mother Brain. You start out leaving Zebes when Space Pirates attack you and hit your ship, causing you to crash near the Space Pirates HQ. Also what’s worse is you lost all the upgrades, including your power suit! So you get to play as Samus without her helmet, with a blaster pistol, unable to kill the space pirates. Nearly the whole level uses stealth to move around. Until near the end of the level you obtain your suit again, with even more upgrades like being able to multi jump. Also another feature is the ability to play the original Metroid. The 8-Bit wonder itself. It lets gamers who came into existence before the NES days enjoy some of the history.

If you are a Metroid fan, you will enjoy this game. Even if you don’t care about the series, this game will change your mind. Pick it up and enjoy it.
