Mario Party 6(GCN) (E) (Other) |

Mario throws a party...again!![]() Mario Party 6 is basically every Mario Party game created, but with different mini games. Since the series went onto the gamecube, nothing much has changed. Sure there are some differences, but not much really. If you never played any of the Mario Party games, then pick this up. If you have, then you wouldn’t really care about this one as much. The main part of the game takes place on a giant board. It takes a scene or area and adds blue and red color dots, with some other spaces for events and items. The environments are interesting to look at. Also it uses a Day/Night system that changes ways you get around the board. For example you might be using a flower that acts as a trampoline and enables you to jump onto a ledge. When its night the flower closes up but a ladder is then placed in the area but takes you somewhere else in the board. It’s probably one of the few unique ideas put into the game. ![]() The music is basically midis you can find on the Internet. Now I’m not saying midi music is bad, this game does a good job with it. Anything else in this series would make it crappy. If you were playing a cartoony board game, do you want some orchestral action music like something from Halo? Probably not. It would make the overall feeling of the game f***ed up. The sound effects are still the same from the games. You get the character cheer and coin noises you love so much. Yet after all the changes in victory cheers, nothing has beaten Peach’s “Peach is a winner!” which sounds a lot like “Peach’s cobbler!” Yes it’s stupid but it’s something I’ve grown to enjoy and make fun of for so many years. The gameplay is still the same through the whole series. You walk around a board, land on a red or blue dot, then get a mini game. The mini games span from mind games to pushing-the-A-button-repeatedly-until-your-thumb-bleeds games. An interesting idea put into the game was the use of a mic. Sadly since I rented the game, I could not try out the mic games. Still the other mini games make up for the lack of a mic. Even with new ways to play mini games, nothing beats spinning the N64 control stick around in circles till you get A: a big ass sore on your palm or B: it breaks off. ![]() This game is a great party game. If you have a couple friends over, and a gamecube hooked up, then this is a must play. You will probably spend hours laughing at each other and cussing each other out. Only problem is that this game is mostly the same as the other 5 games in the series. Yet it is the newest so people would go for this first than the old ones. If you plan to through a party, or planning to bring a GC to school while everyone is at the Band Trip and your teacher won’t let you bring Halo 2 even though you will, pick this up.
