  • The whole reason I bought The Simpsons: Hit & Run is (I'm never doing this again mind you) cause I saw some weird thing on G4 saying 'This game is pretty good!'

I figured I'd try it out just to see if G4 can get ANYTHING right, and they WERE right, this game isn't all that bad.

The plot of this game is that Krusty is selling some new soft drink called 'Buzz Cola' that isn't harmful to ANYONE (that we know of). However strange black sedans and bee cameras are all over the city and all that stuff. The game starts off with an easy tutorial level, you being Homer Simpson. All the voices are done by the original Simpsons cast, so if you like the Simpsons you will like this game, as it is quite humorous.

Anyway after the easy tutorial level with Homer it switches to Bart, then to Lisa, Marge, and for some odd reason Apu. Anyway as you go through the game weird things happen and you have to help people out to get information outta them.

The graphics in this game aren't terrible, in fact they fit the Simpsons quite well. It's not a cartoon but it's still cartoonish enough that it could easily be an episode of the Simpsons (Thankfully it's not cause it wouldn't be as funny as the actual cartoon)

If you'll notice in the above screenshot you'll see a meter on the bottom right corner of the screen. This is your 'Hit & Run' meter. Basically if you kick enough people, or run things and/or people over in your car the meter fills up. If it gets full the words HIT & RUN appear on you screen and the cops start chasing you. You have to evade them long enough for them to forget that you're a fugitive.

So basically this game is basically Grand Theft Auto, except for kids. I like this a lot as my paranoid mother doesn't let me play 'M' Rated games. (Laugh all you like, I'm sure some of you out there have the same Mom). Anyway if you can't play M rated games and want a weird version of Grand Theft Auto, this is definetely a game you should consider.

The music in this game is basically weird medley's of Simpsons Music. As well there is also just some random music for Car Chases and Races and other things. I actually listen to the music as the game would be kinda boring without it, however it's not something you'd go to a concert for.

The controls in this game aren't terrible. I played the Gamecube version and those controls were easy enough (Though it took me awhile to get used to reversing, but that's just cause I'm not exactly a fast learner). I have yet to play the PS2 or Xbox version, but however they DO exist so this isn't specifically for the GameCube.

Overall I give this game a 1 Mushroom. The game isn't bad, however do NOT buy The Simpsons Road Rage, as I HAVE played that game and it does NOT compare to this game whatsoever. If you want a Simpsons game, this is definetely the game to get.
