  • Tactical Espionage Card Battle Game?!

  • Author: Mikey
  • Metal Gear Acid did the impossible: It made a Tactical Espionage Card Battle game and a d*** good one as well...well it's the only Tactical Espionage Card Battle game but it did a great job. You use cards for every single thing imaginable. From walking to assraping a soldier with your M4 card. I've always wanted to use this line from Miss Cleo so I'll use it now. All your actions, It's all in the cards man.

The story starts like this: You are Solid Snake and is out to infiltrate a lab out on a random island near the coast of South America so you can get Pythagoras. You do this because dolls have hijacked a plane. Yes, Dolls have hijacked a freaking plane. You're not alone, you have help. Your team members are Roger (Col.Campbell clone) Alice ( The Psychic...Can somebody say Miss.Cleo?) Teliko (Like Meryl but Teliko actually does something) Gary (Smartass a.k.a Otacon) The problem with the story is that there are way too many plot twists. You won't find these many plot twists anywhere, not even on hispanic soap operas. After every level, you either get A) A cutscene with a plot twist B) A cutscene where Snake is ultra confused C) A normal Cuscene D)Nothing but s***.This is pretty good for a game not directed by my god Hideo Kojima. That's right. It was directed by his right hand man Shinta Nojiri.

If you don't like reading or stragetic cardbattling then turn back NOW! The cutscenes are in anime type stills where the dialogue is still going but the picture is not. Unless you consider little beeps after every word voice acting then there is no voice acting.

You start out with a deck and can add to it buy finding booster packs on the ground or buying them at intermission. You unlock decks as you get into the game and you get money by completing levels. There is the cost system in MGA which means if you use too many cards or a card which increases your cost too much then it's likely you won't get a turn. This means the soldiers get a chance to buttrape you instead of the opposite. Cards varies from attack cards like Metal gears and guns, cost reduction cards like Cost-8, Support cards like Rations, and items like Stealth and cardboard boxes.

Like I mentioned earlier, you get to have a girl partner like always. Teliko will have her own separate deck which you have to build and you control her during levels. I personally use her as bait.

The soundtrack is..well ok but they could've done more with it.There is only a few tracks and they repeat alot of them alot. The same tune you hear on level one could be repeated over and over again. This sucks because I wanted to rip open my ear from hearing too much of the same thing over and over again.

This game is extremely replayable and has alot of easter eggs like model cards which gives Snake a nosebleed because they're softcore porn. There are up to 204 cards to collect and half of them aren't even Metal Gear. The story is great even if the plot twists can ge annoying and this game brings card battles to a whole new level. I thought this game would be s*** but I was wrong. Metal Gear Acid gets a 1 Mushroom.
