  • WHY IS FARMING FUN?

  • Author: Daniel
  • Yes I know, I haven't reviewed something in awhile. Well here is a review. So let's get on with it.

If someone were to go up to you and say to you "Hey I got this game about farming, wanna play?", you'd probably think your friend is an IDIOT for wasting his money on such a game and at the same time wondering how can anyone MAKE a game about farming.

Well Harvest Moon is indeed a game about farming, however for the people that like the whole "love" factor, you can also get married to 4 or 5 different girls. Basically you sweet talk, give gifts, and dance with the girl you want to marry to gain her love meter, which can be found in the diary of the respected girls room.

The whole plot of Harvest Moon is that your grandfather used to own this farm next to some village. When your grandfather dies, he leaves all his land to you. You name yourself, your dog, your horse, and your ranch and then begin on your whole farming journey. You can buy seeds, plant them, and then once the vegetables are fully grown you may put them in the 'selling bin'.

This may sound dull and boring and a waste of your time, and to some people I can see why it might be. However, many people who have played this game know that the game is enjoyable. First off, the whole love part brings a lot of people to the game. Enlarging your house by cutting down wood, getting a child, watching as the child grows, getting cows or chickens.

I don't really know what kind of a lazy-ass your grandfather was, but he leaves a totally FILLED field with rocks, wood, and weeds everywhere. Now it's easy to understand the weeds, but the rocks (There are some huge ass rocks in the farming field) seem to appear out of nowhere after your grandfather dies. It's a pain in the neck to finally clear the whole field, and to fill it up with crops and grass is almost if not impossible to do because you'd need to be:

    1) Rich
    2) Have a LOT of time to do this stuff.
    3) Need to take time to GET rich
    4) You only have 3 years.

Yes, your parents visit you have 3 years and if your farm isn't good enough for them they scold you and call you a bad son.

Overall, this game is enjoyable though it can get old fast. I have no way of seeing a person playing this game consistently throughout one day. I personally have to take small breaks in between playing it, because it can get pretty boring on days where nothing is really happening.

I give this game three stars. My first reason is that it gets old fast, and my second one is that many people may not like this game at all. Many of the more 'mature' audience especially will look down on this game and possibly label it "Queers Only."

    3 star(s) out of 5
