  • We all know there are too many Star Wars games, but not many are about the major battles. Yes we have had the games with your in a space ship and crap, but none where you can walk or fly in a fighter. Battle Front is one of those few games, and it delivers. I played this game both on the Xbox and PS2, so I’ll tell about both versions at the same time.

The graphics for both were pretty much the same. Average looking for this generation. You have the lasers zooming by and the explosions, but nothing too dramatic. The landscapes are pretty nice to look at, if your not getting shot at. The more lasers and people on screen, the more lag there will be. Lag is a major issue in this game, mostly online but I’ll talk about that later.

The sound is pretty average also. I think it was mostly the same song on every battle or no song what so ever. There are the laser sounds, explosions sound effects, the annoying voice saying “We have captured a command post, we have lost a command posts, we are losing backup, etc.” I got very annoyed from that guy. He just can’t shut the hell up. I know there’s a dead guy, you don’t have to announce it to all 200 people! The options menu’s have some music you will know from the series. From the theme of the movies to the Imperial March.

Gameplay is just as basic as everything else in the game. Its easy to use, and you can change from third person to first person. First person is easier when on the ground, but a pain in the ass when flying. I switch several times in a game just so it feels good to me. You can change the controls if you want, but that never helps at all.

Finally online play, it’s better on the PS2. When I played it over the PS2, there was less lag in the game. Then over Xbox Live, it was lag hell. It’s too hard to shoot a single guy because they keep warping all over the place, and this is a game with just 3 people. FYI my connection is decent, barely lags on any game BUT this game. When flying and trying to shoot, it’s near d*** impossible. The whole level will jolt all over the place. If you want to play online, then you better have the best d*** connection in the whole world, and play it on the PS2.

Overall this game is average to me. Not the greatest game ever, not the worst. If you want a couple hour enjoyment, rent this. Just don’t buy this game, its not worth it.
