Guitar Freaks(Arcade) (E) (Music) |

It's like DDR, but minus the exercise.
Guitar Freaks is one of those games that few people know about, especially if you're comparing to the amount of people who know what DDR is. Guitar Freaks was mostly left in DDRs wake because you don't really get exercise from it, and people that don't have fast FINGERS as opposed to fast FEET hated the game.
Anyway, Guitar Freaks is basically a DDR, except you have a controller shaped as a guitar. You have one "string" in the middle which is actually just a block that moves up and down (Only down in my case, because my controller sucks) and three frets on the left, which read R, G, and B. Red, Green, and Blue if you're an idiot. When you choose a song, the song will begin and you have to play the right chords at the right time. One example being hitting a red note at the right time. It's a simple concept, but like DDR it gets harder. Much harder in fact. The Normal songs are basically for the "beginner" and such. If you've never played this game, don't try and think that you can do it because you can't. For some people DDR is just a natural thing. Like me, I played DDR for the first time this weekend (It's not something to go "WTF" about, it means I'm not a dance nerd), and I was okay at it. Mind you I didn't WIN anything, dear GOD no. But I got a 15 dance combo on expert mode. Now, the Expert songs are truly what they mean, EXPERT. They require VERY fast fret changes and combos of frets and just crazy strumming. Now, it's probably easier with the string that moves up and down, but I don't have that. Meaning for those REALLY fast chords I have to hit, I have to strum down and then go back up, and then strum back down again REALLY fast. I've gotten used to this so I can own any of you who thinks they can take me on. Now this game's music (It's all music) is pretty good. There are obviously some songs that you'll go "Oh man that's my favorite and I can own anyone in it." For me its a song called "L.A. Rider" But who cares about me, let's hear about the game. Most of the songs are pretty catchy unless it's a girly sissy song, all of those songs suck in my opinion. (All of the girly sissy songs are the easiest ones). Now I said THIS game was crazy, but this isn't the only Guitar Freaks game. There are many more. I've only played until the 4th mix (There's an 11th mix somewhere in Japan). Those songs, compared to this games, are crazy hard. If you can beat those songs, you can beat any of these songs. But this isn't about 3rd or 4th mix, it's about the 1st mix. Anyway, I give this game a 1 mushroom. Why a 1 mushroom Daniel, you only ranted about good stuff right? Well let me explain. This game is a good game, don't get mixed up on this. However, once you play the songs about 5 times they either get: 1: Boring 2: Redundant 3: Too Easy In the 3rd and 4th mix when you think you can finally own Expert Mode, there's still: 1: Bonus Track Mode 2: Extreme Mode 3: Extreme Bonus Track Mode 4: Extreme PLUS Mode 5: Extreme PLUS Bonus Track Mode THIS Guitar Freaks has only Expert Mode. This is the reason I give it a 1 mushroom, because I've played these songs so many times I'm bored of them.
