Sega GT 2002(XBOX) (Unknown) (Racing) |

Bottom of the Barrel.
Sega GT 2002 is one of the two games that may be bundled with your Xbox. S GT 2K2 is a pretty bad sham of a racing game. The only reason I ever played this was because I just finished watching the two "Fast and the Furious" movies. Yes I'm impressionable. Sega GT 2K2 is like Gran Turismo, more of a simulation racer then an arcade racer. Sega GT 2K2 just doesn't managens to do many things right. I'll address more of this as it comes up.
The graphics: OK, but nothing to write home about. Appears good, but then you take a closer look and see tons of jaggles. Bad for the Xbox. Sound: There's supposed to be music, but it's turned down so low you only hear your engine. The engine sounds are OK, and you can tell which car is which based on sound, but after awhile, it's just annoying. The tire screeching noises are also a pain in the ear. Single Player: My greatist problems are here. The beginning of a racing game are always aggrivating, but especially so here. Once you manage to scrape together cash, sooner or later you will have to enter a "license test" These are the most God-awful things ever to hit video games. You must race through a course with a given car (you can't choose) under a set period of time, and you can't leave the track (drive on the gravel, cut corners) or skid, or anything else. The tests become tedious, and you must pass them, or you will not be allowed to advance. If you fail by .01 of a second, too bad. Do it again. Often you will get a crappy car, that can't brake well, turn well, or accelerate well. Too bad, you must pass the test. The standard career races are boring, you just race group after group and try to be in the top 3. Some races make you take 10 laps, so you're going to be there for a while. You also get a few other modes, but they are all the same thing. The control of the game in general is a "floaty" feeling. Those of you who play lots of racing games will know what I mean. The steering isn't tight, like Need for Speed Underground. Multi: Same as single player, but split screen. And for God's sake, why is one person more forward then the other? Also, the bottom player gets blinded when the game displays who is leading who and by how much. That's poor design. There is no online support, that's offered in the newer S GT 2K2. All in all, this was OK for me because I was too absorbed in Fast and the Furious. If I wasn't, I probly wouldn't have played this POS. I'm giving it 2 stars because, while it has some problems, it isn't completely broken. Play NFSU, it's WAY better. I'll review that later. For now, please don't play this. It's not worth your time.
