Barnyard is a computer-animated film from Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies scheduled for release on July 28, 2006. It is being directed by Steve Oedekerk, who is also the principal scriptwriter and stars the voices of Kevin James, Courteney Cox, Sam Elliott, Danny Glover, Andie MacDowell and Wanda Sykes. The film is rated PG for some mild peril and crude humor.
It is set in a barnyard on a farm (hence the title). The animals on the farm are urged by a respected, elderly cow (voiced by Sam Elliott) to keep their unusual human-like behaviour a secret from the farmer. Otis, a young cow (voiced by Kevin James), prefers to play pranks on the humans. But when the farmer is away for a time, things get out of control and Otis must become more responsible, eventually taking control of the situation.
