Medal of Honor: Airborne is the next installment in the long-running Medal of Honor series of World War II first-person shooters. It is being developed by Electronic Arts' Los Angeles studio for release on the Sony PlayStation 2, Microsoft Xbox, Sony PlayStation 3, Microsoft Xbox 360, and PC.
In Airborne, the player will take on the role of Private first class Boyd Travers, a paratrooper in the U.S. 82nd Airborne Division. Travers' insertion into major engagements in Sicily, France, and Holland will reportedly be controllable by the player. The chosen landing zone will, according to the Electronic Arts' announcement, affect the course of the subsequent mission.
Airborne was originally rumored to be a launch title for the PlayStation 3, but has since been confirmed for other platforms as well. No screenshots and little information was available until it appeared on the cover of the February 2006 issue of Game Informer magazine. It is the first console game in the series to have PlayStation 2 and Xbox versions, but skipped the Nintendo GameCube.
