  • Dead Rising is a forthcoming video game for the Xbox 360 produced by Keiji Inafune and under development by Capcom.

The player character, Frank West, is a war time photographer who is trapped in a mall filled with flesh-eating zombies. The player must rescue other survivors and get out of the mall alive with the best scoop possible. Frank West wishes to get a pulitzer for his story. During the game the player must choose between taking pictures, or simply killing the zombies which brings a twist to the gameplay.

If the player takes pictures, they may win a pulitzer, but it may make surviving more difficult. As well, the player may choose to help the people they're with, or let them get eaten to save themselves, and perhaps take some pictures of their demise. Depending on the information you gather and the pictures you take the ending will vary.

The main character has been shown to do more moves, use weapons and other objects. The E3 trailer showed some bits like using a snowblower (Which is often mistaken as a lawnmower by most people), throwing a bowling ball, and thousands of zombies on one screen at once.

All the items and weapons are randomly placed everywhere. Other trailers include knives, tennis rackets, chainsaws and the more conventional shotguns and pistols.

Despite the presence of zombies, the game is not officially tied to Capcom's Resident Evil series. Inafune explained that the game is more humorous in tone compared to the Resident Evil series. This is reflected by the main character himself, who is not a "cool" hero working for a special task force, but an average citizen with an ordinary job.
