Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines is a role-playing computer game developed by Troika Games using the Source engine that can be played from either the first-person or third-person shooter perspective . It is set in White Wolf, Inc.'s World of Darkness role-playing game universe. It is noted as being the first Source game to go Gold.
This is Troika Games third and final title, which commenced production in October of 2001 and was finally released in November 2004. Notably the game was delayed because of contractual obligations with Valve as a result of using the Source engine which prevented them from releasing the game until Valve had released their own game: Half-Life 2.
The game allows the player to choose one of several different vampire clans and progress through the game according to the different strengths and weaknesses of the player's character. In this manner, the spirit of the game is much like Deus Ex.
