Gametrash Collab Project: Wanna help?
The Datesim PSP LUA Game, I changed it to a pheonix wright clone that I work on class times at my school. So, that in mind, I put Half-Screwed on hiatus, just because I'm not getting anything done with that regardless.
I was thinking of an idea of a game that we can all work on. No matter how small, like sprite editing or midi music making. I can do everything, but, I wanted someone to be in charge of different things so I don't go for a few weeks and stop like I have been.
The Engine that I am going to use is RPG Maker 2000. It's a common engine but very robust. It can be changed in a lot of different ways to suit our needs, I am going to do coding and if Kirk helps, he helps. If not, 8===D.
The plot is set in a the near future, December 2007, We decide that Graal sucks and we are going to start this elite group that fights the power, because Unixmad is starting to be a dictator. He starting to raise prices on p2p and he fired Stefan Knorr. Unixmad has gone mad. Now, it's up to Kirk to start this group that can finally defeat Unixmad and take over graal in this general chaosed world.
The Sprites will be based on our look in real life, not our graal characters. Same with Unixmad and everyone else. This is because, graal graphics look like butt and we cannot get everyone's graal character to look perfect when ripping. So, you might as well make your own to fit the style of RPG Maker SNES Style.
Midi music or optional MP3 music. I will make two packs, one slimmed down with midi music and one with mp3 music, but a lot of space. Yeah, whatever.
The Gameplay is going to be based off of Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops' comrade system. Where you can go on "missions" when you trigger them and a day/night between raidings. While raiding you can grab people and take them prisoner if you get them to the "truck". You can use these Recruits for several different teams, Sneaking, Spy, Medical.
Sneaking Team is the team you deploy out into missions. You control this team, you make their decisions. Without this team, you have no way of completing further. Only Kirk and a few select people can stay after bring defeated in a random encounter.
Spy Units grab information about staff. They start new sub-missions as they get reports from different places. It can be anywhere from "PRISONER CONFIRMED" to "UNIXMAD SPOTTED IN UN" and even "NEW WEAPON FOR TAKING". The Spy Units can also grab items and additional supplies and bring them back in between missions.
Medical Units are made because, after you are done with a mission, any damage you get won't be healed after you are done with the mission. There are a few exceptions, like before a huge boss or raiding mission. Otherwise, you are stuck with the health you have. You can steal Medical supplies during the mission or they can make them in between missions.
In conclusion, This game will be coded by me and possibily Kirk. Now the question is, what do you guys think? and also, Are you guys going to help in any way form or fashion?

i'm not good at any dev work other than coming up with the details of themes, such as classes, weapons, statistics, requirements, (for something like zodiac)
i'm also good at making graal levels, but i'm not sure how well that would help u with a different game
whats theme of the game? or will it have multiple themes like graal does?

If you can draw snes style pixeled characters, then yes.
i'm not good at any dev work other than coming up with the details of themes, such as classes, weapons, statistics, requirements, (for something like zodiac)
i'm also good at making graal levels, but i'm not sure how well that would help u with a different game

I'd be willing to help program, but my RM2K skills are rusty. The last thing I did, if I remember correctly, was that whole Adventure Game engine.
If you plan to do this right, you're going to need the following:
- An adventure game engine
- A mission engine
- A class engine (easy to do, the game has classes built in)
- A party engine (possibly hooked in the party engine the game has itself)
- Real time fighting
I don't know how you'd pull it off, but give it a go. I still think I have the NEO-SYNTHESIS engine I made to make shooter games on that system, I'll send it to you if I find it.
