What this means
This, all in all, means one thing- Gamestop is allowing this to happen. As I've talked to others about it, it has somewhat hit me that it may not just be this store that is trying this trick on customers. If I would have known this would happen, I would have gone to Best Buy and picked up the game without thinking two seconds about it- but instead, I was essentially cheated into buying a used game for $20 more.
So what do I recommend? Wait. There are plenty of stores, online and off, that sell games for great prices that do not pull this. I completely intend to contact Gamestop about this, as well as the manager of this area- because misleading advertising or marking is actually a crime. This is the same thing as if you were to walk into a car dealership, buy a new car, and then get in it and realize someone's stuff is in the backseat- you willingly paid for something and were tricked into something else.
This is not the first issue with Gamestop, either. Gamestop has been one of the first companies to be assaulted for selling minors violent games (Such as the fact that a 16 year old friend of mine can walk into the store and purchase M rated games without being carded by their 18 up policy)- and they have also been accused of little quirks like this for some time. When there are plenty of companies out there that sell you exactly what you paid for, an issue like this is like one very ugly mole on the cheek of the company- and, if this is company policy, this could end up being a full scale lawsuit. I would never be as stupid as to have a lawsuit against the company about a $30 game- but there may be someone out there who would be angry enough to.
With that being said, expect more from Gametrash.com on this Gamestop situation. Again, I fully recommend that people interested in purchasing a game go elsewhere- even possibly to our affiliate, Amazon.com, which can be easily accessed by one of the links on our page. Hopefully, in about a week, we can have a response from the gaming giant so we can fully understand what exactly happened.
