  • Get underground and connect levels.

  • Tony Hawks American Wasteland is basically both underground games, but better to a certain degree. From level improvements to the overall story, it was a decent upgrade to their previous titles. Don’t believe me, then read the review.

The story is about a skater who decides to go to California. When he gets there, he gets bullkied and loses his stuff. So then some chick (forget her name but doesn’t really matter anyway) comes and helps you out. So then starts your journey to be a kick ass skater. Later it develops into helping out making a kick ass skate park. Which if you complete 100%, it does kick ass.

Graphics on this game are little standard looking graphics. Not the great, but good enough to give it a nod. Sometimes you get an occasional glitch, which is enjoyable to see. The movements of the characters feel natural and doesn’t show much choppyness. For some reason though when you play a mission and gain a piece to the park by knocking it off something or hitting it so it goes into the air, it just flys out ultra fast like some gay ass rocket. Also when you start the game, you can’t create your own charater completely. You have to choose from five premade ones, then buy them new clothes and change their hair to make them look better.

As for sound effects and music, they were pretty good. Now you are able to listen to your own soundtracks on this game for the Xbox, so I rarely listened to the preloaded music. The conversations sounded really good and not like someone was reading it from a script. Except for Bam. His voice overs sucked ass. Making you wish they had cut his whole little piece in the game out.

Finally the controls and gameplay are really smooth. There is no lag time between pressing a button, turning is good, and doing tricks isn’t really hard. You can do the button mash to make a crazy move, but actually doing them the way your supposes to isn’t hard. I was able to pull off 5 combos which were about four button/control stick placement long in one jump! That gives you a example of how easy it is.

So if you like skateboarding games, then you might want to check this one out. Sadly I was not able to play online for certain reasons and wasn’t able to check that out. So if you go online, you’re on your own. Also if you listen to your own music, make sure it’s decent.
