An interview with Caitlin Glass

So last wednesday Caitlin Glass (if you don't know, she is a voice actress for Funimation Studios) came to my school at the Janpanese Cultural Club. So asking first, and getting her business card, I was able to get gametrash.com an exclusive interview. Sadly I have horrible handwriting, and no paper at the time, so I had to email her the quesions.



Well first off I would like to say thank you for letting me interview you, even though it is through an email. Anywho let's get this thing started!


What anime have you put your talented voice into use?

Fullmetal Alchemist- Winry
Gunslinger Girl- Triela
Spiral- Hiyono
Burst Angel- Takane
Kodocha- Natsumi
Sakura Taise: Ecole de Paris- Erica
Lupin the 3rd: Island of Assasins- Ellen
Negima- Chisame and Chachamaru

How long have you been doing voice acting?

A little over 2 years



Is voice acting hard?

It can be, yes. It takes a while to get used to the way things work. It can be hard acting all by yourself, with out other actors to react to. It's also hard sometimes trying to figure out and understand just what it is the director wants. That can get frustrating, but in the end, it's worth it.


What did it take to get a job in voice acting?

For me, it was all about knowing the right people. Or, I guess in my case, just one person. My friend is an engineer at FUNimation and he gave me tour one day, and while on the tour I met a director and was hired on the spot!


Have you done any voice acting in games, if so which ones?

I've done a little. I played Winry in the 2nd FMA game and also various vampires in Blood Rayne 2.

What college did you go to?

University of Texas at Arlignton


What is your favorite anime?

Favorite ever is Sailor Moon. Favorite other than that is His and Her Circumstances. Evangelion ranks pretty high up there too. And Fullmetal Alchemist, of course!



What is your favorite games?

I don't actually play many video games! But I love Katamari Damacy :-)



What game or anime, if any, would you like to voice in. Released or unrealeased anime or game.

There's an anime called Victorian Romance Emma that I would love to be in if it ever gets licensed. Honey and Clover is another anime I'd love to do. Games.... who wouldn't want to be in a Final Fantasy game?



How did you get your job at Funimation Studios?

What was it like being at Arlington High on wednesday?

It was great! You guys were a great bunch of students. You had some really good questions and I enjoyed every minute of it!



What was it like getting lost in the school?

Not so fun... your school is HUGE! Thankfully, I ran into a teacher that I know ( I did a play with her) and she told me where to go.



How much do you get paid?

I can't answer that... sorry. Probably not as much as you think, though.



Now for the random, pointless, semi comedic questions.

What is 2+2?

2+2 is a math problem. Duh.



What is your favorite color?

I like them all really! Though at the moment I'm quite fond of pink and brown.



If I sent you a difficult math question, would you be able to figure it out?

No. I was a theatre major in college. Math is not my strong suit.



How long is your pointer finger?

I don't have a ruler handy to measure it... it's as long as my cell phone, minus the antanae.



What is better, cheese or apples?

Apples.



What is your favorite saying from anything you have ever heard of?
