XB vs PS2 vs GCby Daniel, 2005-05-14 |

This just has to go here. I mean there is always a dispute over which system is the best.
Is it Xbox? Is it the PS2? Is it the Gamecube? Well here is MY opinion on the matter. If you don't like it, tough cookies you can live with it. Ok I'm going to make this short and simple, so I'll start by overviewing each system. The Microsoft Xbox: The Xbox was the first attempt at entering the console gaming world, and everyone was sceptical. Back then nobody knew if it was going to be good or just another way for Bill Gates to yell "I have so much money I can make a worthless console system, reproduce it by the millions and have billions of dollars to spare asshats!" In my opinion that analogy is half right. The Xbox started with what many people call "The Greatest Game Series Ever Created By Living Organisms On The Planet Earth" Halo. Created by Bungie, it was a marvelous first shooter so the Xbox started off well. So with Halo coming out and people smiling because of it, it mislead people into thinking that the other games would be good too. Enters Mr. Bill Gates. You see I'm betting that Gates wasn't the one who created the crappy games, but hey it's his fault because he's the nearest scapegoat. Basically after that crappy games started to come out for the Xbox and if a good game came out, it was or soon would be on the other 2 console systems. A lot of sports games did this, so no one had to buy an Xbox to buy one of John Madden's Football Games. Then Halo 2 came out, and Xbox sales once again soared up because everyone wanted a piece of Halo 2. Then repeat the process, no good games have come out since Halo 2. If you think I'm wrong, please tell me the game so I can proceed to think it over. So basically the Xbox has ONE game. It's a marvelous game at that. But one game can't keep a whole console system running. Yet for some reason, the Xbox 360 has come out so quickly. If I'm mistaken, the Xbox was the last of the systems to come out between the 3 rivaling systems. So why is the Xbox 360 out so quickly? Microsoft wants to try to get to the top that's why. Microsoft rushed the production of Xbox 360, and although they claim it fixed all of the old bugs for the original Xbox it most likely comes with a set of new ones. So basically Microsoft has been making stupid moves. The Sony PS2: The PlayStation 2 is the second version of Sony's original console the Playstation. When this console came out, everybody freaked out once they saw screenshots for the games it had in store. There was a good amount of good games to come with it too, unlike Xbox which had only Halo. So people are going crazy over this PS2, and they have good reason to. The PS2 came out with games like XenoSaga: Episode 1, Onimusha, Shinobi and other great games. Compared to the Xbox, the PS2 is by far greater in gaming value. Now why is it that you don't hear anyone bragging about their PS2 but they brag about their Xbox, because the only thing they have to brag about is Halo. You see for the PS2 there isn't a "Halo" because there are so many good games that if you were to brag about each one, you'd be at the ripe old age of whatever age really old people are. However, with the Xbox having one game that's braggable, that's what people focus so they go to school and gather in circles and start talking very nerd-like about how many little Grunts they destroyed and massacred. Anyway, the PS2 has superior graphics as in one of its early games, DarkCloud, there was ASTONISHING graphics. No one had ever seen these kind of graphics so people were just left speechless. Then came Final Fantasy X, which had even better graphics, though lacking in gameplay. Hey, no system is perfect. So the PS2 has games, is that the reason it is superior to Xbox? The answer is yes, because one game is one game, where as over 50 games is definetely the way to go. The only problem with that is you won't finish them all because there are so many good games, while the Xboxers have beaten Halo 7 times and counting. The Nintendo GameCube: If you don't know, the GameCube is the next thing after the N64 and the N64 is the next thing after the SNES and so on and so forth. Basically, Nintendo has been around for a long time which means they've set up classic game series for themselves. One example being Mario, who is their company mascot of course. However, Mario was originally set as a platformer, and it worked very well as a platformer. Once you take it off the platform and into a 3D world, it just isn't entirely the same. It's still an okay experience, but it'd be so nice to have a good ol' platformer back. Introduction being set, the GameCube is literally a Cube that can play games. Such games for the GameCube include: Mario Sunshine, Zelda: Four Swords, Viewtiful Joe 1 & 2, and Resident Evil 4. If you noticed the first 3(Okay 4, but there are only 3 commas) games are all usually games Rated E for Everyone. This means they are games suited for children. This is my point exactly, the GameCube is mainly a system for small children, and maybe one or two games rated M or T. The Gamecube is good for small children who can't tell a good game from a binder clip, but for the other gaming class mainly being junior high, regular high, and college kids they don't want "Collect the Fruits and Win A Small Sun Figure" What the kids want is "Collect the Disembowled Heads and Win an oversized Gun!" So basically there are some okay games for the GameCube, but just not for anyone over the age of 14 basically. Now to the big decision, which is the best console!? Well let's take a very quick summary. Xbox: One Game PS2: A Motherload of Games Gamecube: Kiddie Games. Overall, I nominate the PS2 as the winner of the 3 consoles. While the other 2 obviously aren't all that bad because people still buy games from them, the PS2 overall beats the pants off of them. |
